General requirements for legal deposit copies
Version to be submitted
Legal deposit copies must be submitted in the version approved by the faculty. However, corrections to spelling and typography are encouraged and may be made to the approved version without further confirmation from the faculty.

University publications may be published both online and in print. Please refer to the relevant pages for specific requirements.

Submission of published commercial editions
If the academic publication has been published by a commercial publisher, the required number of copies of the commercial edition (retail edition) must be submitted as legal deposit copies.
The publication’s imprint must include a statement identifying it as an academic publication of the University of Potsdam. The type of academic publication, the awarding institution and the year in which the academic degree was awarded must be stated.

In the event of title changes, a note must be included in accordance with the following examples:

Cumulative (publication-based) doctoral theses and postdoctoral theses
Before cumulative doctoral theses and postdoctoral theses are published online on the publication server publish.UP, the rights for secondary publication must be clarified. Information on this can be found under Secondary Publication and Authors’ Rights. The respective license terms and copyright conditions of the publishers can be researched on the Open Policy Finder website.
Provided the initial publication was made under an open Creative Commons license, secondary publication is possible.
If no rights for secondary publication are available, submission is only possible as a print publication.
