History of Universitätsverlag Potsdam in Images

1998 – Foundation: Publication Exchange Department turns into Publication Department for the faculties and institutes of Potsdam University; professionalization of scientific publishing: so called “grey literature” becomes books and series – including ISSN/ISBN; media printed in the university’s printing office 
1999 – online publishing section takes up work; first dissertation published online on the „Potsdam University Publication Server“; presentation on website based on HTML 
2002/03 – media increasingly printed by external printing companies 
2004/05 – „Universitätsverlag Potsdam“ appears in the imprint of each publication; database publication system OPUS introduced 
2008 – new financing model: authors pay for initial print run; further print runs financed through revenues; increasing professionalization of typesetting and cover design 
2013 – technical development of the Publication Server: migration to a newly programmed version of OPUS publication system; University Bibliography integrated; Publication Server renamed “publish.UP” 
2014 – over one million downloads from the Publication Server for the first time 
2015 – 10th place in Open Access Repository Ranking (OARR) of the German speaking countries; 1st place in the Berlin-Brandenburg area 
2016 – more than 700 books deliverable 
2018 – on the occasion of its twentieth anniversary, Universitätsverlag Potsdam introduces new publisher software and offers its publications with a newly designed web shop
