The media in our departmental libraries are assembled thematically by means of the Regensburg Verbund classification (RVK). The classification can be explored via the RVK Online (in German).

Literature Research and Obtaining the Documents

Search the online catalogue (OPAC)
All media available in the library can be found in the online catalogue (OPAC). A short introduction how to use the OPAC is given in our OPAC tutorial  (in German).

Search for journal articles or essays
Subject-specific databases are used to search for journal articles and subject-specific papers. Here you can find a list of Online Tutorials for Selected Databases.

Search in specialist databases
An overview of the complete range of subject-specific databases can be found in the Database Information System (DBIS).

Order literature via interlibrary loan
Literature needed but unavailable in the University Library may be requested via interlibrary loan. Detailed instructions are given in the Interlibrary loan tutorial (in German).

Reference Management

Reference management programs provide the possibility of administering bibliographical references and of structuring them. The University of Potsdam has acquired a campus license for the team version of the reference management program Citavi. Members of Potsdam University  may use Citavi free of charge. Information on the download and license key can be found on the webpage of the ZIM: Campuslizenz Citavi (in German).
