Open shelf collection:
Temporarily there is no access to the open shelf collection. Please use the Online Catalogue to order media.
Borrowing and ordering media:
You have to be a registered user to order and borrow items. Registration and renewal of library cards is possible during opening hours.
Workstations and carrels:
Restricted use of reading and workstations for university members only. Prior reservation required. Carrels can be used at the Babelsberg/Griebnitzsee library only.
Please note: Due to current contact minimization regulations, the use of workstations and carrels will not be possible until presumably Sunday, 31 January 2021.
Information service on site is unfortunately not available at the moment.

Please use the Online Catalogue to search and order media.
You may order media from all departmental libraries and the stacks for pick-up at any of our three library locations:
Neues Palais, Building 10
Golm-IKMZ, Building 18
Babelsberg/Griebnitzsee, Building 5
You may also order journals and items from the non-lending collections for copying or scanning.
When ordering, please make sure to select borrowable media (request info = available) if possible. Students of the University of Potsdam may also order copies from the textbook collection (request info = textbook collection).
Under "more about the title" you will usually find a table of contents, descriptions or reviews. Use these details to make the perfect choice for your order.
Pick-up of ordered items:
Ordered items are normally delivered to the pick-up location of your choice within 48 hours (except on weekends or public holidays).
You will be notified by email once your order is ready for pick-up, copying or scanning.
You may also check the processing status of your order in your user account.
Ordered media will be held for pick-up up to seven days after you received the notification. After tis period, your order will be cancelled.
Please do not forget to bring your library card or PUCK.
Non-lending collection and journals
Items from the non-lending collection and journals cannot be borrowed. However, they may be ordered for scanning and copying on site.
Scanning and copying
Scanners and copiers are accessible. The printer/copier in the IKMZ Golm in the outer foyer is freely accessible during the opening hours.
Please note:
Please understand that we can only admit a limited number of persons at a time. There will be an admission control, please plan for waiting times (currently 5 to 15 minutes). Please wear a mouth and nose protection while you are in the library.
Please extend the loan periods yourself - or return the items on time. Up to 5 renewals are possible (unless the item has been reserved).
You can return media in all our three departmental libraries - regardless of the location you originally borrowed them from.
Please use the contactless return service at the self check-out counters at all three locations (in Golm the return machines are loacted in the foyer).

In case you cannot return items on time, please get in touch with us on time. If the item is overdue, late fees will apply.
Students of the University of Potsdam may use the pay machines in Babelsberg/Griebnitzsee to pay fees with their PUCK. The pay machines at the Neues Palais and in Golm are unfortunately not available at the moment.
Payment of fees by bank transfer is also possible. Please be aware of the longer processing time for bank transfers. Your user account will be credited only after the University Library has received the money. Please provide the following information on the transfer form:
