In order to finance primary publications published according to the so called "golden road" of Open Access, publishers usually charge publication fees (APC). Different funding options are available at the University of Potsdam to cover these fees.
The DFG-funded Publication Fund can be used to cover publication fees for the primary publication of articles in Open Access journals. Funding is subject to specific funding criteria.
Furthermore, PhD students and PostDocs can apply for publication cost subsidies through the Potsdam Graduate School (PoGS).
Department 1, Division for Research Affairs of the University of Potsdam offers support in formulating financial requirements for Open Access publication fees as part of its consulting services for research proposals. Furthermore, the department provides information on individual requirements of research funding organizations with regard to Open Access.
In order to reduce Open Access publication fees, the University Library has made agreements with academic publishers to reduce publication costs. Moreover, there are options for publishing Open Access within the framework of DFG-funded alliance licenses of journal packages. Furthermore, various licensing agreements with different publishers allow for immediate secondary publication, i.e. accoding to the so called "green road" of Open Access.
